Mrs. Dombey’s Class (Ms. Hughes, Gifted Resource Teacher) was wondering if the organisms will be the same in all of the samples.

Our hypothesis: No, we do not think the Macroinvertebrates will be the same because they are not in the same ponds,  and in might be warmer or colder in different places.

We observed:
We were looking for Macroinvertebrates. To see better, we used microscopes and magnifying glasses. We used a turkey baster to get the specimens into Petri dishes. We observed a snail shell, 100+ water fleas, 3 tadpoles, 1 may fly nymph, 43 frog eggs, 1 water scavenger beetle, 2 water boatman, 1 mosquito larva exoskeleton, 1 riffle beetle, 1 water boatman exoskeleton, 2 water pennies, 1 clamshell, and 2 snails.
We learned a lot and enjoyed participating in Bucket Buddies.

Mrs. Horstman’s Class (Ms. Hughes, Gifted Resource Teacher) Our team was trying to answer the question, “Are the organisms the same in all the samples?”

Our hypothesis: Macroinvertebrates will not be the same in the samples because they live in different places and they need different waters.

Our data: When we observed Macroinvertebrates we used microscopes, magnifying glasses, and Petri dishes. We used a turkey baster to put the samples in the dishes. Then we carefully looked at the samples.

We found:  100+ water fleas, 1 clam shell, 1 snail shell, 3+ snails, 2 water boatman and 1 water boatman exoskeleton, 43+ frog eggs, 1 damselfly nymph, 4 tadpoles, 4+ water pennies, and 1 water beetle.
