Mrs.
Dombey’s Class (Ms. Hughes, Gifted Resource Teacher) was wondering if
the organisms will be the same in all of the samples. Our hypothesis: No, we do not think the Macroinvertebrates will be the same because they are not in the same ponds, and in might be warmer or colder in different places. We observed: We were looking for Macroinvertebrates. To see better, we used microscopes and magnifying glasses. We used a turkey baster to get the specimens into Petri dishes. We observed a snail shell, 100+ water fleas, 3 tadpoles, 1 may fly nymph, 43 frog eggs, 1 water scavenger beetle, 2 water boatman, 1 mosquito larva exoskeleton, 1 riffle beetle, 1 water boatman exoskeleton, 2 water pennies, 1 clamshell, and 2 snails. We learned a lot and enjoyed participating in Bucket Buddies. |

Mrs. Horstman’s Class (Ms. Hughes, Gifted Resource Teacher) Our team was trying to answer the question, “Are the organisms the same in all the samples?” Our hypothesis: Macroinvertebrates will not be the same in the samples because they live in different places and they need different waters. Our data: When we observed Macroinvertebrates we used microscopes, magnifying glasses, and Petri dishes. We used a turkey baster to put the samples in the dishes. Then we carefully looked at the samples. We found: 100+ water fleas, 1 clam shell, 1 snail shell, 3+ snails, 2 water boatman and 1 water boatman exoskeleton, 43+ frog eggs, 1 damselfly nymph, 4 tadpoles, 4+ water pennies, and 1 water beetle.
