Edgartown Elementary School

We collected our data at two different ponds on Martha's Vineyard.  The first was at Felix Neck, Edgartown on Sept. 21, 2006.  The weather was sunny, warm and clear.  Here is what we found:

   Dragonfly nymphs  - 6
   Damselfly nymphs  - 2
   Backswimmers       - 5
   GIANT water bugs  - 1
   tadpoles               - 10
   Whirligig beetles    - 2
   Caddisfly larvae      - 1
   Bloodworms           - 1
   Midgefly larvae       - 1

Then we went to Cranberry Acres in Vineyard Haven on October 6, 2006.  It was sunny but COLD!  Here is what we found there:

   Water Boatmen               - 11
   Predacious Diving Beetle - 10
   Green frogs                      - 6
   Freshwater clams            - 27
   Whirligig beetle               - 4
   Caddisfly larvae               - 3
