Introductory Letter

Greetings,

My name is Ms. Kapley and I teach Biology at Cuyahoga Community College.  I am taking a group of my college students to Costa Rica on Tuesday, May 15 and decided it would be fun to share my adventures with all of you.  Although I have been to Costa Rica before, e-mailing information back to a class is a new experience for me.  I am very excited about trying this.  I hope to e-mail you everyday, but there may be times when that is not possible.

I plan to send you information about my location and the weather.  Each time I e-mail you I will send you my latitude, longitude, altitude, temperature, humidity, and rainfall.  Perhaps you will want to compare my information to the weather information on the internet.  Also you might want make a graph to see the relationship between the altitude and the temperature.

I am taking a digital camera, so when possible I will e-mail you pictures of some of the plants and animals that I see.  Perhaps your class could search the internet to see if you can find the 4 kinds of monkeys I will see in Costa Rica.

I would like to ask you to do one more thing.  There are probably some children close to your age that I will be seeing.  I would like for you to email me some information about Cleveland, your school and your class.  I will share this with the Costa Rica children and ask them to email you back. I have attached a detailed itinerary so you will know where I will be each day.  If you can find a map of Costa Rica, you can follow my journey. I am looking forward to hearing from you and sending my information back to your class.

 -Mrs. Kapley
