Welcome to Oceans Connecting a Nation

This is an educational project for students in grades 8 through 12 which urges them to consider the impact humans are having on the oceans.

Through this project, participating students will focus on nitrogen, the nitrogen cycle, and the impact of excess nitrogen on our ocean. They will collect water and soil data, and use real-time data from the internet to monitor the presence of nitrogen.

Students are challenged to think critically and creatively about the environmental issues involved in this project. By the time they have finished, they will be able to:
  • Research and analyze the cause and effects of excess nitrogen in the environment
  • Conduct experiments to find the quality of soil and water samples
  • Collaborate with other students to compare data collected from water and soil samples
  • Use knowledge gained to create awareness and to develop better neighborhoods
There is NO fee to participate however we do ask you to register first. To do so, go to the Instructions and Help section.
