Design a Better Neighborhood Lesson Plan
Objectives
Students will:
- consider the importance of excess nitrogen in the environment
- consider the importance of designing environmentally-neutral construction
- brainstorm and plan different activities to prevent and/or solve a problem
- create a plan to redesign an area of your neighborhood
Materials
- computers with internet access
- camera
- large sheets of paper
- design/model materials
Assessment
Students should complete and submit a design or model suggesting a redesign of an area in the neighborhood deemed environmentally unfriendly.
Implementation Tips
If there are not enough computers for students, you could:
- create small working groups project the image for the class using an LCD projector
- print and distribute the materials
