The Global Sun/Temperature Project
Language Arts Activity

Overview

The temperature of our region plays an important part in our daily lives.  These language arts activities will give students the opportunity to compare and contrast lifestyles of their own community with other communities throughout the world.   Unlike the science portion of the project, the purpose of the language arts lessons is to share information and become more aware of the world outside their classrooms.  Therefore, completing these activities are not required for participation in this project although highly recommended.
  • What are the activities?
Students will write specific information depending on the time of the year that the project is running. The language arts activities change depending on when you do the project as there are different activities for each run.  Please do ONLY the language arts activity for the run in which you are doing the project.
    • September - November: Exchange of Information about various New Years Celebrations and Holidays
    • March - May:  Exchange of Cultural and School Information
  • Where do I submit the Language Arts activities?
You can submit your completed Language Arts Activity to the Discussion Area. A "conference room" has been specifically designed for the postings and sharing of the completed Language Arts activities.  To post a new message:
    1. Click on the "+" symbol next to "Language Arts Activity (optional)"
    2. Click on "POST" located in the upper-left of your screen.
    3. Complete your message.  Be sure to include your school's location in the subject line of the message.
  • What do I do after I submit the Language Arts Activity?
After you submit your Language Arts Activity, you should periodically check back with the Discussion Area to read and respond to the submissions from the other schools.
