Global Sun Temperature Project

2002 - FINAL REPORTS
Central School, Huntsville, AL, USA

Hi from Mrs. Jones's 4th graders at Central School in Huntsville, Alabama, USA. We divided into groups and with our globes, atlases, world maps, and post it notes in hand we started documenting information from all the schools. The conclusions we made were as follows.

  1. WOW!!! The farther north from the equator you are the more minutes of sunlight you received!! ( Hey Mrs. Jones, would you like it up North?)

  2. Just what we thought! Just because you get more minutes of sunlight doesn't mean your temperature is warmer. Temperature is determined by the sun's direct and indirect rays. (Hey 4th graders, I'd rather have 736 minutes of sunlight than 2 degrees C!!!!)

  3. It is possible to find small cities on a map if we use our longitude and latitude numbers.

Thanks for a great project.
