Global Sun Temperature Project May 2002 - FINAL REPORTS |
| Donaldson Elementary
School in Tucson, Arizona USA Good afternoon! We are the 3rd graders from Donaldson Elementary School in Tucson, Arizona USA. We are ready to submit our final report. The Sun Times has been a very exciting project. We learned to collect data, graph, and communicate with other students from around the world. We have had a great time. The Sun Times was a part of a much larger space unit. We just finished our research papers on space. A few of our students researched the Sun and how it is the center of our universe. We also learned about the Earth's axis and rotation around the sun, day and night, seasons, prime meridian, and the equator. Using our data, we concluded that as we move north of the equator, the minutes of sunlight increased. As we moved below the equator, the minutes of sunlight decreased. We also studied the data about latitude and temperature. The temperature changes as the latitude get closer to the equator. It is the hottest at the equator because it is closest to the Sun. As you travel away from the equator, the temperature becomes colder. Weather can also be a factor. We have also concluded that due to the temperature and the minutes of sunlight, it is Spring in the Northern Hemisphere and Fall in the Southern Hemisphere! E-mail: atierney@amphi.com |
