Global Sun Temperature Project May 2002 - FINAL REPORTS |
| G. R. Martin
Elementary, Seekonk, MA, USA Hello! We are fifth graders from Martin Elementary in Seekonk, Massachusetts, USA. We learned a lot about the relationships between different climates of the world. The Northern Hemisphere gets more minutes of sunlight than the Southern Hemisphere because of the tilt of the sun. As you move north of the equator, the minutes of sunlight increase. As you move south of the equator, the minutes of sunlight decrease. This is only possible when in the Northern Hemisphere it is spring. The opposite effect happens when in the Southern Hemisphere it is spring. Some places are hotter than others because they are closer to the equator. This is because the equator gets direct sunlight. Below the equator the latitude is measured with a negative, above the equator latitude is measured without a negative. From: G. R. Martin Elementary, Seekonk, Mass. U.S.A.
