Global Sun Temperature Project

2002 - FINAL REPORTS
James Monroe Fifth Graders, Everett, WA, USA

We did this experiment in the fall and spring. By analyzing the results both times we discovered some amazing stuff. We discovered the earth is tilted and in the fall and winter months the direct rays of the sun point more to the northern hemisphere. In the spring and summer it is just the opposite. The sun's rays point more directly to the southern hemisphere. Therefore while we have longer days in our spring and summer, the southern hemisphere is having shorter days. When we are having winter, Australia is having summer. Their longer days are then. That means they can celebrate Christmas with a day at the beach!!!
