Global Sun Temperature Project
May
2002 - FINAL REPORTS
Spencer County Middle School, Kentucky, USA

This is Spencer County Middle at Latitude 38'11. We had a great time doing this project and we look forward to next year. We learned a lot from this project and really didn't expect to get the results that we did.

We saw that from the graphs, that as we moved away from the equator towards the northern hemisphere the light increases and we moved away from the equator towards the southern hemisphere the light decreased. This happened because the sun is beginning to tilt to the northern hemisphere so that the rays are directly on the north. But the light is decreasing because the sun's rays are now indirectly on the southern hemisphere.

As far as the temperature, we saw as we moved towards the equator the temperature increases because the sun is always directly on the equator giving it its warm temperature 365 days of the year.

We learned a lot from this. Some of the new things we learned was how to read graphs and how to interpret the information on the graphs. We also learned how to look in the newspaper to gather our data for sunlight times and how to use a CBL which is a hand-held computer thermometer. That was really cool.

Well we are off for the summer, our last day at school was yesterday and we are ready to go enjoy that summer weather. Everyone have a great, safe summer and thanks for allowing us this time to participate in this project.
