Final Report: Decmber, 2002 |
| James Monroe Elementary, Everett,
WA, USA We spent a lot of time on this project and followed the directions carefully. We learned about latitude and longitude. We also learned where different countries and cities are located on the globe. What surprised us the most were the results of the world wide measurement of daylight minutes . We learned that because of the tilt of the earth in November there are more daylight minutes in the southern hemisphere then in the northern. We especially noticed the contrast between Alaska and Australia. When we graphed the temperature, it turned out as we had predicted. The majority of the high temperatures were clustered around the equator because that is where the most direct sunlight is. Although Australia is getting a lot of sunlight, the rays are not as direct as they are at the equator. We enjoyed this project and hope we can find a school that will continue corresponding with us until the spring project. E-mail: judith_husker@everett.wednet.edu |
