Final Report: December, 2002

Linwood Middle School, NJ, USA

The students of Ms. Ford's seventh grade classes, at Linwood Middle School enjoyed participating in this project. We were fascinated about the other schools both within the US and and around the world. We like learning about different cultures in the world. It was interesting to see how the climate changed throughout the world.

The main factors we learned after interpreting our graphs were that the amounts of sunlight effect the temperatures. For example, in Australia, which was the southern most location, received 854 minutes of sunlight and as a result the temperature was very high, about 25 degrees Celsius. The closer to the equator the higher the temperature, because they always receive sunlight. In Ecuador the average temperature is 28 degrees Celsius and they had 750 minutes of sunlight. In the Northern Hemisphere it was a lot colder, because there was less sunlight. In Anchorage, Alaska there was only 448 minutes of sunlight, and as a result their average temperature was -0.9 degrees Celsius. We really enjoyed ourselves with this project. Thanks, Ms. Ford's seventh grades science class.
