Greetings
from the CIESE team!
Since 1988, CIESE has collaborated with K-12 school
districts to improve science and mathematics achievement
through the meaningful use of technology. Our focus is
on systemic educational reform through long-term partnerships.
In February 2004, CIESE became part of the Stevens Institute
of Technology's Charles V. Schaefer School of Engineering.
Current K-12 efforts in curriculum and professional development
have been extended to encompass higher education, especially
innovation in engineering through working more closely
with Stevens' faculty and researchers.
Beth McGrath is Director of CIESE, where she manages program development and implementation and guides collaborations with K-12 schools and other educational partners. She is also leading the RIEE, Research & Innovation in Engineering Education, initiative at Stevens, aimed at strengthening teaching and learning in undergraduate education at Stevens (see http://riee.stevens.edu). Ms. McGrath has written and spoken for national and international audiences on the impact of technology on the teaching and learning K-16. She graduated with honors from Virginia Commonwealth University's School of Mass Communications and completed a Master of Education degree with high honor at the University of Maryland in December 2004.
Mercedes McKay directs teacher training and curriculum
development. She earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering
from Carnegie-Mellon University and a graduate certificate
in Technology Applications in Science Education from
Stevens Institute of Technology. Before joining CIESE,
Ms. McKay was a practicing engineer and also taught high
school science and mathematics.
Dawna Schultz directs the new Engineering Our Future New Jersey initiative. She received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and a NJ K-8 teaching certificate from the College of Saint Elizabeth. Prior to joining CIESE, Ms. Schultz was a practicing mechanical engineer, an elementary school teacher, teacher professional development trainer, and an advocate for the STEM professions.
